My friend Lillie came to live with me when I was about 8 years old.

On Sunday afternoons, my family would go over to my Grandpa and Grandma's house for a visit. While there, my Grandma would take me across the street to sing for an older lady friend of hers. I don't remember what I sang, but most likely songs I had learned in Sunday school. I loved singing for her and she enjoyed listening.

One time after I was finished singing she presented to me a special doll. I named her Lillie because she was all dressed in white.

She is a Kestner doll and is now over 100 years old. She is as beautiful today as she was when I received her 54 years ago.
